There are many guild members who have a strong interest in modern quilting and meet once every three months – January / April / July / October to share ideas, works-in-progress and meet challenges established by the group.
At each meeting attendees show what they have been working on to meet the current challenge. One person usually has a hack or tutorial they share with others and then a challenge is discussed and chosen, along with any guidelines by which to proceed, for the next meeting.
In January, the Challenge was “Lunar” – which left much room for individual interpretation. The challenge for April was “Modern Take on Churn Dash Block”. Again, the results were varied and beautifully executed.
Because this meeting was affected by the stay at home policy, a new member set up the Zoom video app and also a Dropbox account for the group to drop in photos of their work for other members to view. So the group was able to meet – face-to-face – for an hour or so.
The Zoom app has been a blessing and we may need to continue its use for a while longer.
