Modern Quilt Group

There are many guild members who have a strong interest in modern quilting and meet once every three months – January / April / July / October to share ideas, works-in-progress and meet challenges established by the group.

At each meeting  attendees show what they have been working on to meet the current challenge.  One person usually has a hack or tutorial they share with others and then a challenge is discussed and chosen, along with any guidelines by which to proceed, for the next meeting.

Some of the challenges have been: Lunar, New Take on the Churn Dash, or using two characters from the game Clue as color inspiration.  Most recently the challenge was Dresden Plate – A Modern Look. The current challenge is due in October using the Pantone colors of the year – pale yellow and grey – PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating.

Because one or more meeting was affected by the stay at home policy, a member set up the Zoom video app and also a Dropbox account for the group to drop in photos of their work for other members to view. So the group was able to meet – face-to-face, more or less – for an hour or so.

The Zoom app has been a blessing but as of this writing we are back meeting in person – several meetings have been held outside, w hich is also lovely.
